The passing of the Agriculture Bill has unleashed a protest movement that is rooted in a deeper soil than the mere opposition to a reform plan for the agriculture sector. The movement is situated in continuation, and perhaps culmination, to forms of political and social mobilisations that were born in the context of the Green Revolution and in the subsequent rise and decline of kisan politics in Northern India.
